Kindergarten has
settled in well into class, the playground and school routines. They have had a
very busy first term to school life. The children have been involved in the
NRMA bus program about buses and safety around road, performing show building
responsibility and resilience, clean up Australia day, cake days, and numerous
assemblies including the Senior Citizens in which they performed a song. The
children have also enjoyed supporting Holly on her rip to China by coming out of
uniform. In class the children have been learning the jolly phonics sounds and
are reading and writing well already. Reading groups are wonderful and I wish
to thank all our mums and grandmothers for their help. The children have been
very active in mathematics with measuring, weighing, counting and sorting many
objects. They are learning about “School Days” in HSIE and “Growing Up” in
Science. We have been making much use of the whiteboard and are so excited
about the activities we can do on it and what we can learn. Internet connection
seemed like a while and we were all so happy once we could access it. Mrs Rose
Neal will be taking the class for the remainder of the term, as I am lucky
enough to be heading to Europe for a month. Rose had the second kinder class
last year and will make the sure the children continue as normal as possible. I
have mentioned this to the children – you may need to again. I wish to thank
all the helpers within our classroom again and look forward to seeing you next
term. Have a wonderful first break with your
children.

Term 2 CLASS NEWS
The children have
been enjoying Milo sport every Wednesday learning new skills with Joe.
Mad hair day was a
big hit with all parents and children making a huge effort to raise money for
the homeless. The school dance too, was a wonderful 1st time
experience for the children in Kinder.
I would like to
congratulate the class for such a wonderful effort on their speeches and to
those who took part in the Public Speaking Finals – Well Done. In class we have
been looking at the unit “Kids Care” for science and “This is me” for HSIE. In
science the children are learning about caring for the Environment and in HSIE,
their family, themselves and others. Jolly phonics has been continuing and we
will be finished all sounds at the end of term. In writing, kinder have been
writing descriptions about all sorts of things – themselves, the classroom, pets
and their bedroom. I would like to thank the Mums, Dads and Grandma’s for
assisting in our classroom this term for reading groups, writing and other
various activities and look forward to seeing you next term.

Term 3 CLASS NEWS
Week 3
It has been a
great start to Term 3. The children have participated in and really enjoyed
their first Athletics Carnival. A few children commented on the carnival saying
it was really fun and they liked all the games. The children really did well
with the ball games and increased their ball skills and teamwork skills. It was
a great day and we were lucky to have such lovely weather.
In class we have
started our Science unit on hot and cold and are learning about hot and cold
weather, appliances, clothing, and places in Australia and animal
environments. The HSIE unit “Meeting Needs” looks at how we meet our needs and
the needs of others through family friends, love and communication. In literacy
our text type focus has been on Discussion and Explanation. We have been
writing discussions on Jeans for Genes Day and the Athletics Carnival.
Explanations have covered the life cycle of a butterfly and a frog. Maths has
been busy with recording, analysing and graphing data. We have looked at
favourite pets and fruit within the class and the most popular sports
activities. The performance “Beat Box” is taking place on Wednesday and the
children are very excited.
As many of you
would be aware, I am expecting a baby in mid October, I will be working until
the end of Week 7, than taking maternity leave. I would like to thank all the
mums, dads and grandparents that have assisted in the classroom. I have really
enjoyed teaching the class. I will miss the children and will stay in contact.
Mrs Rose Neal will take the class for the remainder of the year. Thanks for your
support.

In Term 3 Week 8,
Mrs Scott went on maternity leave and I have happily taken her place until the
end of the year. We all miss her and wish her well for the coming birth. The
Kinder children are also looking forward to seeing her baby before the end of
term.
Our two new
children, Jemma and Kaide have settled in well and already know the class
routines. During this term Kinder will go on a walking excursion around Denman
