Term 1 Class News
Week 5
We have only been
back for 5 weeks and already Year 3 have done so much!
This term we are
exploring the text types Narrative and Description. In Science and Technology we
are learning about structures and building materials and for HSIE we are looking
at Co-operating Communities and our place as community members in Denman.
In preparation for
the National Assessments, which will take place in Term 2, Year 3 has been
working very hard developing skills in literacy and numeracy, focusing on test
strategies.
Thank you to all
the Year 3 parents, you have made the students transition to primary a
successful one and I look forward to further opportunities to chat with you.
Also, I would like
to thank all parents who help during reading groups; with such a large class
your presence is always
welcome.

Week 2
Welcome back for
another term, it is certainly going to be a busy one!
Week 3 of this
term will see the students sitting the NAPLAN exams. Students have been busy
practising for these tests and working hard towards them.
Term 2 will see
Year 3 learning all about the British Colonisation of Australia and our solar
system. The students will also be practising their writing skills in Recount and
Information Reports, in addition to putting on their dancing shoes to learn some
great dance classics as well as some new groovy moves.
Last Friday we
walked the cross country track and we have been working solidly on our speeches,
so Year 3 is very excited about participating in these events.
I look forward to
having another great term together.

Week 10
Semester 1 is
almost over and Year 3 has had an extra jam packed term.
We recently moved
to another room and have settled in nicely. We now have more space to move,
better facilities and are happy with our new surroundings which include a lovely
garden area where we can have reading groups. This term we have been busy
learning about Australian history, the solar system, dancing, art, recounts and
information reports.
We have had fun
learning skills for our up and coming athletics carnival and the children have
really been enjoying their time with Milo Sport.
At the end of this
term, we farewell the Koch family and Year 3 will greatly miss Sebastian and
wish he and Hugo all the best at their new school.
Next term I’m sure
will be just as busy and we look forward to all the new things we have to do,
see and learn.

quickly coming to an end but before it does, we will be embarking on an
